IDF takes effective control of Khiam and advances west toward Litani River

Lebanese security sources told Reuters that the IDF had effectively taken control of Khiam, the strategic hilltop town overlooking the Marjayoun plain and Hasbani Valley in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces from the 91st Galilee Division were reported advancing west toward the Litani River, which could cut off parts of southern Lebanon. Hezbollah fighters engaged retreating positions around the town. Defence Minister Katz said the operation would continue for months, comparing it to the Gaza war. More than one million people have been displaced in Lebanon since the war began.
