Iranian drones struck Harir Air Base in the Shaqlawa region of Iraqi Kurdistan, a forward operating base used by US-led coalition forces and Kurdish Peshmerga units. A French soldier was killed — the first French military fatality of the war — and six coalition soldiers were wounded, one critically. The drones struck a logistics compound and a barracks building. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack. French President Macron confirmed the death and called it "an attack against France and its allies." The strike follows the previous day's fatal drone attack at the Mala Qara base near Erbil and marks a continued escalation in Iran's campaign against coalition positions in Iraq. The Iraqi government condemned the attack and summoned the Iranian ambassador for the second consecutive day. CENTCOM announced it would deploy additional Patriot batteries to protect coalition infrastructure in Iraq.
