Five rockets struck Baghdad International Airport and its surroundings on the evening of Day 16, wounding four employees and security personnel as well as an engineer. The projectiles landed at several locations across the sprawling airport complex, including inside the civilian airport compound, near a water treatment facility, close to an Iraqi military airbase, and near a high-security prison. The launch platform was later found hidden inside a vehicle in an area west of Baghdad. Officers responsible for security in that sector were removed from their posts. No group claimed responsibility, though Iran-aligned militias operating under the Islamic Resistance in Iraq banner have repeatedly targeted US facilities during the conflict. The US Embassy issued a security alert advising US citizens to exercise extreme caution.
