Israeli shells struck the Nepalese battalion headquarters of UNIFIL in Mays al-Jabal, a town in southern Lebanon near the Blue Line, setting parts of the compound on fire. The honorary consulate of Nepal in Beirut confirmed and condemned the attack, noting that no Nepali soldiers were injured but calling it a "serious violation of international law." Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strike, saying Israeli attacks had "even reached the point of a direct assault on UNIFIL." French President Macron called it an "unacceptable attack." The incident occurred on the same day UN Secretary-General Guterres was conducting a solidarity visit to Lebanon. UNIFIL said it was investigating and "in touch with the mission."
