An Iranian ballistic missile carrying a cluster warhead struck the southern Israeli city of Eilat in the afternoon of Day 16, wounding three people including a 12-year-old boy. The boy was hit by shrapnel and suffered injuries to his limbs; he was evacuated to hospital in moderate-to-serious but stable condition. A 39-year-old man was lightly injured, along with one additional person treated for light wounds. At least three impact sites were reported across the city from cluster submunitions or falling fragments. Magen David Adom paramedics responded to multiple locations. The attack was part of Iran's continuing retaliatory missile campaign against Israeli population centres. Israeli military officials have noted that approximately half of all ballistic missiles fired at Israel during the war have been equipped with cluster munitions, which scatter submunitions over a wide area and are particularly dangerous to civilians in urban environments.
