During the IDF "Arrow of the North" ground operation in south Lebanon, Hezbollah fired a Kornet laser-guided anti-tank missile that struck a Puma armored engineering vehicle near Khiam. When a Caterpillar D9R armored combat bulldozer moved forward to recover the disabled Puma, it was struck by a second Hezbollah Kornet in what appeared to be a deliberate double-tap ambush. Both vehicles were destroyed. Two Israeli soldiers from a combat engineering unit were killed and three others were wounded. Hezbollah's military wing claimed responsibility, stating it had targeted "Zionist military engineering forces" in Tell al-Hamames, south of Khiam. The IDF confirmed the losses and said the unit had been supporting the southward advance of the Arrow of the North incursion. The incident demonstrated Hezbollah's continued use of pre-positioned anti-armor teams to contest the IDF ground advance in the Khiam corridor.
