Two Israeli soldiers were killed in south Lebanon when a Hezbollah Kornet anti-tank guided missile struck their Puma armored engineering vehicle near Kfar Kila. A second Kornet then struck a D9 armored bulldozer that rushed to assist, killing the second soldier. The IDF confirmed both deaths, naming Master Sergeant Maher Khatar, 38, from Majdal Shams, and Staff Sergeant Yoav Almog, 22, from Kfar Saba. Four other soldiers were wounded. Hezbollah said the strike was in retaliation for Israeli evacuation orders and ongoing strikes on Lebanese towns. The deaths mark the first Israeli fatalities from Hezbollah fire since the Lebanon ground operation began on March 9.
