An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Hafeziyeh district of Arak targeted and killed Brigadier General Esmail Dehghan, a commander in the IRGC Aerospace Force, in the early hours of Tuesday March 10. His wife Farideh Sadat Seyedi, their two children Fatemeh and Mohammad Parsa Dehghan, and his mother-in-law Soghra Ghassemi were also killed. His son Mohammad Hossein Dehghan was wounded. Tasnim News Agency (affiliated with the IRGC) and Iranian state media confirmed the deaths. The IDF announced in the early hours of March 10 that it had targeted a residential building in the Hafeziyeh district, stating that a "senior IRGC commander was targeted." Dehghan commanded a significant unit within the IRGC's Aerospace Force responsible for drone and missile operations. The targeted assassination was part of Israel's systematic campaign to eliminate Iran's military leadership and degrade the IRGC's operational command structure. The Spanish-language news outlet Pravda ES first reported the killing, citing Iranian sources saying the attack occurred "two nights ago" as of March 12.
